SAHGA Concerned About Commercial Game Breeding Trends
26 Feb 2015
The first game auction of 2015 once again saw record prices attained with a total of 71 lots sold with a turnover of R266 million. 16 new record prices were paid for animals sold at the auction with a black impala ram sold for R2,4 million, a white flanked impala ram sold for R7,9 million and a quarter share in a sable breeding bull sold for R15,5 million among others. In response to trends in the game breeding industry to focus on production of unusual specimens, SAHGCA held a media conference calling for increased regulation of this industry.
